Come to the 62nd JCI Philippines National Convention in Tacloban City (October 7-9, 2010) where all the JCIP members will convene and share the best practices, forge new and better friendships and/or business partnerships. The JCI conventions such as this one are designed with full of fun learning experience as one can say. One of the highlights of the convention is the giving of recognitions to the most outstanding programs and achievements of the all the JCIP local organizations in the prestigious award giving body called the “Temiong Awards” which falls every 2nd night of the annual convention. For those wondering where the name came from, Temiong Awards is called as such after the father of Asian Jayceeism and founder of JCI Philippines, the great man JCI Sen. Artemio Vergel de Dios in 2007 by our National President Maeng Penado. The trophy symbolizes honesty and humility.

This time, JCI Kagayhaan Gold, again has successfully made a mark in the entire organization by winning 2 major awards since in 2008. The winning programs are the 1st Cagayan de Oro Speech Olympics as the Best Youth Activities Program which is a personal advocacy of JCI Sen. Herbert Glenn Reyes and is chaired by Past President Arvin Don Bandojo. The other one is this website www.JCIKG.org as the Best JCI Local Website which is sponsored by JCI Sen. Mennen Aracid, ITF 106 and is designed and maintained by Past President Michael Abonitalla. The winning programs will yet be again tested for its integrity as it will compete as an official entry of JCI Philippines to the 2011 Asia & the Pacific Conference (ASPAC) come May 2011 in Manila.

JCI Kagayhaan Gold members in attendance during this year’s NatCon are Past Presidents JCI Sen. Mennen Aracid, Aileen Parojinog, Arvin Don Bandojo and the 2011 President Jossel Dispo.

Winning in the national competition is tough and it takes a lot of ground work and foundation in the beginning. There are many different factors that motivate individuals or groups in doing projects or programs and in creating positive change. These include financial reasons, power, achievement, opportunity for advancement, the ability to contribute, but one major factor is the power of RECOGNITION.

It’s true, winning starts with something. It takes talent to win. To repeat, it takes character and integrity. My sincere congratulations to all the member of JCI Kagayhaan Gold and to all the participants of the 1st Cagayan de Oro Speech Olympics and my grateful thanks to the Lord for giving all the strength and wisdom in making the bid. More surprises can be found just around the corner. The best is yet to come.

This years Asia Pacific Conference (ASPAC) is set in Singapore wherein all JCI members in Asia and the Pacific will come together to share, unwind, relax and met friends across the region.

JCIKG are fortunate enough to sent atleast 5 delegates to the conference after many years of not participating in the international conference. As a member of this organization for a few years its really nice to experience and enjoy the convention with the new found friends during our stay specially the party during the national night .

Pearlmont Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City

MBS3

I was really thankful for attending MBS3. My horizon was expanded during the event for its my innate desire to become a famous blogger. Glad that Mike Abonitalla encouraged me to attend. As the Vice President for International of JCI- Kagayahaan Gold, it is one of my duties to expand linkages to other organizations that was why i vehemently count myself as a delegate.

I really learned so much from the speakers.
AM- Sayang lang i was late, i did not hear from that lady – Deputy Chief of Mission, Ms. Leslie A. Bassett of the US Embassy. To Atty. Adel Tamano, where he had shown that Mindanaoans can be great leaders in any field of endeavor. To Hon. Plaza, who was campaigning for political positioning of the 5 senators who represent Mindanao, that we can attain economic partiality.
PM-The afternoon sessions was worth taking down notes with ( Madam Tiny dont worry ill create a soft copy for the org). Making a blog online is not just to monetize but a passion-driven endeavor. Thanks to Mam Janet who expound the power of blog to create a network or Tribe for creating positive change.

PBA

Honored as the award title holders that i witnessed the prestigious Phil. Blog Awards. I was touched when Bariles from Socsargen Bloggers, as he cried during his speech. Blogging is not merely writing or creating a flatform online just to catch attention or creating residual income but a mission to spread information that can shape our community forward and to bring and give pride as a Filipino.
Congratulations to Past President Mike Abonitalla for garnering the Best National Business Blog – www.negosyoideas.com… we are proud of yah…..

By JCI Mem. Alvin C. Adaza
2010 VP for International

It was my first out of town experience with JCI. Excited to fly over to a new personal exploration…Palawan, one of the dream places i wanted to go. The venue of the place was my main purpose why I booked for an early promo months ago.

Really, it was a week of whole package of fun. Seeing the wondrous nature tourism Palawan has to offer. Meeting new people from other chapters, while having fun in nightly fellowship(Yeah! Partyyy!! ). Exposing myself to the activities and protocols such as The Plenary, Temiong Awards and the Presidential Ball.

I was a baby JCI for 3 years. I am glad that i decided to be an active member this year. I do believe that this year will be a benchmark for maximizing my participation and allow myself to grow in many areas of my persona while doing service to the community.

I was struck by the Valedictory Address of JCI Sen. Fulbert Woo, when he took words from the poem of Mother Theresa -* Do It Anyway. He expressed that we should continue to do goodness even if others are not to us – it is a hard thing to perfect but do it anyway…. The National Convention gave me a wider scope of what the organization is deemed for its existence. JCI is a venue where young leaders are molded to be with commitment, conscience and compassion.

Committed to serve rather than to be served, a leader should be a great server before he is recognize and respected as an authentic leader.

Doing things with conscience, being responsible of what you impart to others, such act or word shown to others – if it is righteous and justifiable. With the theme:” Be Better: Protecting Environment through Active Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs,” JCI should always wave the banner imprinting love Mother Earth and explicitly live with it.

Always be compassionate to those who are less fortunate, that we prioritize our endeavors towards community service.

With all our yearnings from the National Convention, may we always live with the JCI tagline for this year and continue to transcend mediocrity – Be Better!

The National Convention is one of the most-awaited affairs that highlight an extensive lavishness of programs for the year. An annual gathering for JCI members nationwide, which gives them the opportunity to come together and, for four days, fully experience the privileges of what the movement has to offer.

The JCI started in the Philippines because of a crying need of the postwar years – the need for an opportunity by which the young men could find their own niche in society and serve the community, the need of an effective medium by which they could show their elders what they can accomplish by themselves and, in the process, gain valuable training and experience for their future role in our nation.

On Friday, February 11, 1949, the first national convention held in the Fiesta Pavilion of the newly rebuilt Manila Hotel and was attended to close three hundred young JCI members from the twelve newly established JCI local organizations in the country not only to celebrate the culmination of a year of successful achievements, but also to exchange ideas for fostering the work they so auspiciously started.
